The fact of owning wealth or a title won’t bar you from the goal of sanctity any more than being a pauper will get you to Heaven.
During the consecration, Father Jim, a former tax collector from Massachusetts, invited the small congregation to circle the altar. I didn’t join as I wasn’t going to receive the Eucharist, but Father Jim looked at me and invited me to the circle, saying “You are God’s child too.”

There are currently four female Doctors of the Church. These are St. Therese of Lisieux, St. Teresa of Avila, St. Hildegard of Bingen and St. Catherine of Siena.
Sometimes she felt lonely in the isolated life she lived, and in those moments the Bible was her greatest companion. In this way, she became acquainted with God early in life, growing in piety and security in faith.
In October, many baffled non-Catholics scratch their heads as their Catholic friends share images and quotes of a nun who died long ago. She is a Saint in the eyes of the Church, but many cannot fathom why.
Be not afraid in the face of evil. Be not afraid to speak up for what is right. What we need now is a million more people chanting We want God.
